Does this include use of the boat lift? I have a 23’ Sea Hunt
Adam says
The lift is not available, however, you are free to tie off on the bulkhead.

what happens if we are evacuated because of a hurricane, can we reschedule or get refund?
Adam says
We strongly encourage everyone to purchase travel insurance, which would cover evacuations due to hurricanes.

A few minor issues, but would stay again
The house was decorated beautifully. We loved the decor in each room & the large kitchen table. We did have a few minor issues, although none that would deter us from staying here again. But for an honest review, we will share our experience.
When we arrived, it was a little later in the evening and there was a vehicle parked at the house. A moment of anxiety came, as we thought maybe the house had been double booked & we immediately thought of having to grasp at straws for somewhere else to stay. My boyfriend made us wait outside as he went to check the house & did a walkthrough. Once we realized there was no-one else in the house, we began to unload luggage. A bit later, the neighbor came over & apologized for parking there. She said she watches over the house when the owners are away & wasn’t aware we were coming. Wasn’t a big deal, but did cause a moment of anxiousness.
When we got settled, we looked for some kind of welcome paperwork, home info etc, but found nothing. Thankfully the trash instructions were posted on the refrigerator because we found the welcome binder in a junk drawer in the kitchen, covered in papers, around our 3rd day there. It had instructions of things to do within 24 hours of arrival, which would have been great, if we could’ve found the book.
We battled some ants on the kitchen counters during the week. Nothing major, but did have to throw away some food, so we ended up just moving countertop food to the refrigerator (bread, fruits, cereal).
The owners had a locked cabinet in the kitchen that had a foul smell coming from the door, as if there was some spoiled food in there.
There were plenty of dishes in the kitchen, but they were randomly placed everywhere. This may have been from the last guests, but there was no pattern, just everything everywhere. Several dishes were dirty, but we always wash them before use anyways, so that wasn’t a big deal.
With 2 firefighters in the group, they noticed immediately that the kitchen fire extinguisher was empty.
The 3rd bathroom off the deck was a great bonus for some privacy. The outside shower with warm water was amazing to wash off sand from the beach. Sure beats a cold water hose!
We loved the deck and the green light to watch the fish swimming at night. We saw a stingray and an eel, as well as multiple jellyfish and trout. That was one of my favorite things to do; sitting outside at night, while the others fished off the dock, I watched the green light. They caught trout & catfish. We also caught and released several large blue crabs in the crab pot.
We are kayakers & since 2 kayaks were advertised, we didn’t pack ours, on our 10 hour drive. We were disappointed that while there were 2 kayaks, there was only one paddle. We emailed about a second paddle, but were told the unit only had one. The neighbor let us borrow a kids paddle, but it wasn’t very effective, so we ended up going to the store & purchasing another paddle & 2 life jackets, just so we could kayak. We kayaked off the deck, in the canal and to the bay. Had a great time. There were also 2 bicycles that the teenagers enjoyed riding all over the island.
We really enjoyed the swinging bed downstairs & the ample sitting room outside.
While there were a few minor issues worth mentioning, we’d still stay here again. The location was perfect and just a short walk to the beach. The neighborhood was quiet & peaceful for the most part, with the exception of a neighbor who spent most of her time outside on the phone. We got caught up on all of the island gossip. We felt a couple privacy curtains would’ve helped a bit, because she was ALWAYS there! We would even lay on the swinging bed at night & she was on her deck, overlooking the swing! It was a bit awkward that she was always there. A curtain on the top porch & bottom deck would have been greatly appreciated.
Overall, this was a great place to stay. Minor inconveniences are part of life. We could tell the structure was a bit dated, but the owners have done a spectacular job with the decor. It was clean. It smelled nice & it was a beautiful home away from home for the week.

Thank you, Christina, for your time in writing a review. We will definitely look into the few minor issues you endured and try to make some improvements. We will put another welcome booklet at the property. We put them in all of our properties so I’m not sure what happened to that one. I’m so glad you did your time and the beautiful home. We hope you will be back soon~DIBR

Mini vacation
We stayed at this house the middle of March 2023. We had a few minor issues that was taken care of promptly. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was what we wanted. The house had everything we needed for a nice trip. We did not use the kayak’s. I loved sitting on the back deck. My husband fished from the dock. Although he only caught small fish he was a happy camper sitting on the dock and just fishing. We would definitely stay at this house again.

Thank you so much for the review and we are so happy you had a great time! I’m also glad to hear we responded quickly to your requests! Thanks again! -Adam (Owner)

Family Vacation
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Azul, however, there are many areas inside and outside the home that need work.
The location on the bay is great, however there is not a safe way to launch a Kayak from the house. The steps on the dock are a huge safety risk, the piece of rusted stairs needs to be removed off the wood stairs and those need to be replaced as well.
There are numerous rotten boards on the deck, my husbands foot fell in one. It was replaced after a quick phone call to the rental company, but still, the whole deck is pretty worn. Also many of sides of the deck are splintering.
The plus for the outside is the half bath, heated outdoor shower and the great porch bed.
Inside is has obvious water damage in the walls, and if you suffer from asthma this house may not be for you. I had to use my inhaler more this week then I have in the last few month.
The fans in the bedrooms need to be remounted and balanced if not replaced, if you have them on high they make an awful noise, and on low it wasn’t much better.
The water pressure in the guest bathroom is nonexistent, however the master bath is good.
The bed in the master; if you are a couple looking to have adult relations this is not the bed for you. It makes all the noise, not even having relations, just your spouse getting up in the middle of the night, you will feel the bed move and hear all the noise…
The kitchen had everything you could need, we’ve been in other rentals where we have had to buy cooking utensils, this one has plenty and having two refrigerators was awesome, as you’ll want to go into Mobile and do a big shopping to avoid island prices.
If you are not a dog person, this rental may not be for you, as the neighbors dog will welcome himself to whole property, jump up and sit on the sofa with you or hang out while you grill and catch fish. We enjoy dogs as do our kids and we liked hanging out with them.
Another review mentions that the neighbor was/is always on her phone talking, I thought that was an exaggeration… it was not. The women was outside on the phone just about everything morning, but her and her husband were nice to talk to. She was outside just about all day everyday. So if you’re looking for privacy you really won’t get any.
Overall would I stay here again? Yes, but I would make sure to pack my folding deck stairs from my pond, a portable speaker and chaise lounge chairs as the patio only has one.
